You are a fantastic person. You have so many talents, skills, and quirks that make you, well, you. But you are only one person. So be kind to yourself.
It’s okay that your housekeeping isn’t perfect. It’s okay that there is a mouse in your house or a bug on your rug. You have laundry, piles of paper, those odds and ends that haven’t found a home. You have a brain that’s just a bit scattered, frazzled, maybe even exhausted because worry, children, (or those mice and bugs!) kept you awake half the night.
Do what you can today. Fifteen minutes of focused effort makes a bigger difference than you think. It’s okay to leave the next fifteen minutes for tomorrow. Just do one step, one task.
In the end, that’s all life is anyway. One moment marching after the next, and you can only do so much with that moment. There will be many more to come.
So relax. Take a breath. Say something nice to yourself to counteract the scolding that’s been marching through your head.
Buy yourself flowers. Yes, I’m serious. Cut flowers that cost $5.00 or more. You’ll be shocked at how special, how luxurious it feels. Even if you’re a guy. Try it. I dare you.
